Oil stick

How much oils is between min and max on oil stick?? I am sure it been answered be4, but I couldn find it. I have done about 180 miles (oil was at max level), now is one "degree" lower, obout 1/4. Is that ok??. I am driving to work every day, usually quite quick 😃

There is 1 litre between minimum and maximum levels. Running the z22se low on oil tends to lead to bottom end failure over a period of time.

So it took about 200 ml of oil for 180 miles it comes as 1l of oil for 900 miles. Is this oil consumption right, or is too much?? I have 132000 miles done

For the mileage it sounds about right. It really depends on the history of the engine. If it's been thrashed all it's life then it's going to use oil.

I can lose 1-2 litres of oil on a track day
If your breather tube (cam cover to air inlet pipe) is resricted you will get a capillary action combine that with the venturi affect as the cool air charge pass over breather tube entry point then eventually NO oil! The "ecotec"dynamics are not that clever on this engine!
Give your pipes a good blow through and monitor
better still
Check air inlet tract as well if you find lots of contamination
Invest in a catch tank

Blimey Lee! That's quite unnerving losing oil like that. I'd be having a right paddy worrying myself silly.

Not that bad most ends up in the catch tank
decant it and stick in the missus car

there is a mod for the cam cover that blocks off standard breather replaces with an-10 fitting (big bore)
I'm to poor for a digital camera so wait until a friendly customer appears for pix

My catch tank captures moisture that smells oily and is golden brown in colour.

on the older vauxhall 16v engines oil use to come up through the cam cover and down the breather hoses when u took a corner sharp like

u would see oil bellowing out the exhaust after u cained around a roundabout lol

Car did have 10 owners so far, so it wasnt look after proppely, I quess...
I have done a lot so far... nearly 600 quid in a month... :thumbdown:
