Well my line at home has been getting slower and slower over the last 3 weeks, put a call in and finally got speed up a bit.

So i thought all good dont pay that much, then i get a bill for this month :evil: It has trippled and a bit in cost it has gone from £4.99 all in to £14.99+VAT :o

Well straight on the Phone, as Tiscali are now taking over they are changing all customers price plans without even notifying me. Well i have now got a refund as i wasnt told about this. And i will get a MAC code tomorrow as i will leave them.

This had nothing to do with them looking at what my package what so ever honest. W***kers just annoys me how companys can just chop and chnage things for there gain.

Was Pipex mate. Will have a look on the forum just want a basic package as sppeds are poop top is 3.5mb i have never seen over 2mb!!!

Sounds like on Ipstream and being throttled.

u cant be throttled on ipstream

BT control the vc/vp's and connections up through the core network and home gateways [central pipes]

u can be traffic shaped though

I was on Ipstream up to 13 months ago like hundreds of others we used to swap and change pipes all the time via an Entanet reseller (they are named.) They went down the pan 16 months ago, also had to monitor usage in peak periods (who ever was in top 5% got a ticket regardless of usage) naughty boy flag. Packeting did it for me at best 1.2mb early hours, faster 3mb and above users taking priority, pages timed out, whilst others being throttled to sub 1/2mg for downloading 2Gb in peak periods until end of month, Entanet did that not BT.

All i can say is get away from these multiconglomerate phone companies, they make their dosh on poor performance and phone calls, you dont get broadband for £5 p/m without falling short in numerous areas.
See if you can get LLU which usually offer quicker speeds, BE/O2 are still good £10 p/m so far it is pretty much 'unlimited' unlike Sky recently.

telefonica pipes were initially used for datastream products, this is where throttling and traffic shaping came from

datastream = bulldog etc

you remember the first cheap 4mb products lol

port throttling and traffic shaping have been around years since the start of UBC and CBC based on charging

i.e bt wholesale directly charge the ISP for bandwidth use and downloads with an addional monthly charge for the connection

as far as i am aware all entanet wholesalers were moved to the IPSC, equivalent to bt ipstream but on the 21cn product early last yr

i was the first trialist in birmingham to use entanet 21cn WBC product

No not asking Mike, wish i could even get a tenth of your download, even your uploads far better than my down. Must be fairly close to the exchange.
Exchange from here as crow flies is around 3.2km CMTET except cabling runs all the way round before reaching me close on 6km. Att was 63.9db now 67db+ on LLU.
5 years ago BT said too far for ADSL, friendly Openreach bloke told me what to do, its up to BT to sort out and maintain the line so just found an ISP that took me on.

Had to monitor Brum capacity from March last year with Entanet rarely below 85% then usually hovered 90 to 95%. Looks like Adsl24 has found a few other providers and the best ISP i have been with for 28 months, before going to O2 April last year and £17 pm better off minus the service on same BE network. Funny thing two weeks ago, sales called me as Premium contract up offered three months free the same as a new customer but tried to get me on the standard Access package (your line will only support up to 2mb blah blah) that is over subscribed at same cost, usually dearer than LLU. Good tolerable service.
A good sign for any prospective purchaser is to phone or email, see if they do or how long it takes to answer though sales usually answer quick.

I was one of the 2000+ savage V21 customers some years back that a certain network denied holding MAC codes, long story round and round in circles since late Sept to 22 December without connection and losing money! Couldnt even get dial up without subscribing and who to, i was off line. Its cut throat out there choose wisely.
