Removing Cam Sprockets - Location?

Hi,

I'm about to do a couple of balancer and cam chain changes so getting the parts list together. This may be an obvious question however I've read a load of posts on here that say if you are replacing the cam chain, you dont need the locking kit.

My question is, when you are removing the sprockets, how can you be sure that cams have not moved on removal of the sprockets? Are the sprockets keyed so they can only go on the cam shaft one way?

Sprockets are keyed. You can lock off the cams by locating 2 spanners on the cams as they have a hexagon profile on each near the sprocket end. Position the spanners opposing eachother so that they cross and then use a pair of mole grips to lock the spanners together. I've seen this done by Daz when he fitted my new chain kit.

It doesnt matter if the cams move as when you fit the new sprockets, you can just turn the cams with a spanner to line it all up....

However as in my pic above you can lock the cams if you wish...

Is there a complete parts/tool list for changing the chains? If not, I may put one together?

I believe the kit has everything you need.
