sorry for the delay fella been at work all weekend, ur best bet is to compression test each cylinder,that way u will know if the valves have been bent due too the lack of compression. basically my car was short of power and sounded like a diesel, then the day it the car wopuldn't start it made a sound like a fan belt slipping then like i say it just wouldn't start. i was directed towards the chain but when i checked it it was solid and intact, so decided to tow the car to vx then they diagnosed the slipped chain. i changed the chain myself with the balance shaft chain and the car rotated fine by hand so tryed to turn her over with the key after the 10th time by hand , and she still wouldn't start so compression tested it and cylinder 2 had no compression what so ever. like i say i took the head off and both the exhaust valves were bent.
an update to the chain slipping is that my exhaust cam had seized (i reckon) due to a low oil level the camshaft journals ( i think, the u bits that hold the shaft down) were very badly worn causing the cam to seize.
