Fuel pump Late 2001 Opel Vectra B 2.2 Z22SE engine

My fuel pump is making a lot of noise - it's in the tank under the rear seat squab. Noise is a whine as soon as the ig key is turned which then comes and goes during the journey. Also when the engine is stopped hear a 'gurgling noise ??
I see several pumps on ebay - are pumps specific to engine types or years or what ? Mine has a locking ring to hold it in position. Any advise would be appreciated.

they do make a whining - humming noise
more noticeable i found on an empty tank

they are not prone to fail unlike the higher pressure pumps on the vectra c

Car has only done 65k and is in very good order. Have had the car for a year and the noise has only recently started hence my concern - does it whatever the fuel level is ?

I just worry about breaking down - live well out in the 'sticks'. Think I'll take it to my nearest V dealer at the end of next week(Dumfries - 25 miles away) and just ask for an opinion. What I really wanted to know is whether there is a particular pump I would need if it does go. If no reply on here by then, I'll ask the dealer about that as well.

Incidentally my Opel Vectra Estate has an Opel badge on the steering wheel airbag and Vauxhall badges front and rear and is registered on the V5 as a Vauxhall ?

but the vectra b never had the 2.2 direct,the poster did mention he had the Z22SE engine,the vauxhall part number for the pump is 9120218 and the bosch no is 0580453465

internal fuel pumps are all the same threw the vaux range..
i fitted a 2001 vecy pump to a 95 calibra . just changed the plastic pump housing job done

veccy ones really easy to do with easy access
