Low3sy Today my carbon fibre wrap arrived so i jumped at the chance to get it on as the sun was out again!! ive made a step by step pic diary as a bit of a "how to" i first removed the plastics from the boot, one torque screw in the grab hole and a plastic rivet popper to the left of the lock. the boot lining just pulls off as it is studded on. then remove the lockin ang handle electrics then remove the 6, 8mm bolts that hold the boot strip on shown here... i forgot to take a pic of the cleaning the srtip but i used citrus fairy liquid, why citrus you ask? i dont know!! nexy i applied plenty of heat and got the material all floppy peeld off the backing strip and started sticking! i used the cheapest tool i had, a matalan card! this stuff i found great to work with aslong as you keep applying plenty of heat as once its heated and starts to cool it goes really rigid. if you have any creases then just add some heat, peel back and reapply and it just keeps sticking! The corner was a bit tricky but as long as you keep the heat in it, it will strech aroud virtualy anything! then once i was happy with it i went on to trim off the excess overlap finshed product well i hope this little guide is of some use to some one! i had fun today with this mod that cost a total of £20!!
Low3sy cheers for all of the comments lads, if im honest i feel some sort of guilt as it was matt who mentioned doing his a while back when debadging the vxr, and once he uploaded a pic i fell in love 😃 sorry matt!! Looks fantastic. How much did you order, as I want to do that next 😃 i got the 120cm x 30cm from ebay mate. 21 quid deliverd. i had big plans for the interior too but because of the curve in the strip, you have to cut a much bigger piece off the roll than what you first imagine. (well i did) notsure.gif i was left with a piece about 2" wide the whole lenght of the roll and a piece about the size of a sheet of a4 paper dunno..
grantellissheffield i wouldnt mind gettingmy roof strips done on mk4 astra they run from the boot lid over the top and down the side of the windscreen but i reckon it would cost me a bomb.
