whats the blue dot about?

as the title says? the blue dot is near the timing chain cover, is it an indication to VXL that work has been done on the chain!

No idea about the dot - as I've told you before the nick in the corner of the cam tensioner indicates that you've got the modified chain set up

Anyone know anything about the blue dot? I too found it on my Z22SE in my Speedster.

That nick in the side of the tensioner has been proven to be an old wives tale. Mine had the nicks in the tensioner and it still had the old style jet, as has been the same with the rest.

i have to agree with bigman on that...lol....changed 3 chains now and all had nicks in the tensioner and all had the old setup...

The "nick" is (according to VX) there to signify that it's the modified tensioner, and it should have been fitted to cars as they can in for service along with the modified chain & nozzel, as prescribed by field remedy 1532.

Obviously this doesn't seem to have been done by deaelrs - nothing new there then :roll:

It probably some sort of torque setting thats been done around that area, as at my car work place they use white marks to show the car has been torqued to the right settings on a part. The blue mark will just been there so when Vauxhall look they see the mark, they will know something has been done to that area that should be.

Three different dealers and VX head office said that the only re-work that needed doing (and had been done) was the air conditioning fix.

It is a '01 vectra 150

I am still going to get it done when I can afford it. I don't believe a word they say.

As i've said before, I phoned Vauxhall HQ 3 times with my chassis number and spoke to my main dealer who also phoned them and every time they said that my car was not affected, but clearly this was bullsh1t!

My car was also a 2001 (51 Plate) Vectra 150.

Mine has the nicks, spoke to all the dealers where the car has been serviced and none of them have any records of any cam chain work done! They even said that the MK4 Astras are not effected and its the 1.2 16v Corsa c that is effected, then spoke to vxl c/s thet didnt ahve a clue!

Not only the 1.2 but also the 1.0 12v and the Astra H 1.4 16v,. Ive had to replace chains on all of them

benny did my chain before xmas . had the blue dot and cut outs but when the jet came off it was the old style one... same went for the chain he was still doing when i turned up.

Aye mine had all the marks that are supposed to signify the new chain kit had been fitted but when Benny did mine it was still all the old gear. Luckily it had lasted to 93k. If you cant find any receipts of the work being done id advise just getting it done for piece of mind
