rod1-sri After seriously considering an engine conversion i am thinkin of keep mine and tuning that. so what i wanna ask is if you had a budget of 2000 (the price i would expect to pay for the conversion) what would you do to the 2.2 to improve performance (bearing in mind i am not very cofident with the spanners so i would need to take labour for fitting into account)
dedko hey rod1-sri, I'm in a similar situation as you. I've got the intent, but not confident with an engine. So far, I've got a cone filter and I'm in serious discussion with Regal about their DBlias Flowtech Pack: £1680 including labour. They say I can get an extra 20 - 25BHP. What sort of mods/updates have you done/considering?
vocky the dbilas flowtech pack is overpriced, basicaly the £100 2.4 inlet manifold gives the same gains :silent:
dedko :shock: Uh-oh, I've all but agreed to get it done. Thing is, I'm living in Amsterdam and driving over to see family and get the car modded at the same time. If the the Flowtech pack's worth a lot less that Regal are doing it for, then what're my alternatives? What could I get done for £1680 on short notice?
slindborg DO NOT GOTO REGAL!!!!!!!!!!!! ffs just dont! there is a reason they went into VAG/other tuning.... they erm gained a 'great' reputation in the vauxh world and the ass fell out of their market.

cavaddict Your best bet is to PM Atom to see if he has a fully built tuned engine to drop straight into yours.
vocky I would save your money and get the engine tuned properly, cams or a high compression head, perhaps both 😃 speak to atom x, he should be able to do something special for £2k :thumbup:

ATOM_X I can build your engine it should be good for 185-200bhp Rebuild + porting & raising compression ratio supply comp cams stage 1 2.4 inlet manifold piper exhaust manifold all the above + fitted £1950 you will need to get it mapped

techieboy As you live in the Netherlands, I'd be tempted to get in contact with Mark Verboom's friend who is in the process of doing some clever things with the ECU over there and are apparently getting some great results from just the 2.4 inlet manifold and a decent exhaust and manifold. Would be even better with combined with Atom X's better breathing engine.

dedko Thanks guys! Really appreciate it. I'm in touch with Atom. I'm going to the AMD Technik rolling-road in West Thurrock this Sunday to see what I've got at the moment. It'll be interesting to know it's condition seeing as it's nearly 10 years old.
