oil leak

Hi guys
Ive recently changed my alternator and the new one has only been on a few weeks and its already covered in oil !
But the oil is limited to the left side by the pulley/belt, not on the mid to right side so i think it could be from the gasket.

Any ideas where this is coming from?

Crankshaft oil seal??...and its throwing it up to the alt

possible, i will put it on the list of things to check
but it did get changed during my rebuild.

Have you ever seen the centre of the balance chain tensioner (little metal disk) pop off?

possibly the crank oil seal or even the crank pulley can be worn where the seal goes dunno..

I have this problem on my high revving, not serviced, over abused but much loved Zafira engine

I do not know what has caused this problem
could be
High volume @ high revs
Low oil level causing over temp
Faulty pressure regulator
Crap design of tensioner
Undercooling of correct oil capacity

it is probably an amalgam of above

whatever
I will start with improving integrity of cap on the tensioner
increase capacity of sump with SAAB item +3litres
ensure level is adhered to
evaluate
if necessary consider oil cooler(s)
