2.2i Zafira

Hi Guy's. Looking at Zafira's now as the family is expanding again. Do any of you own a 2.2i Zafira and if so how un-economical are they, as my Vec ain't brilliant but isn't the shape of a brick either?? Had a look at Autotrader and Whatcar's economy stats that don't look too different to the Vectra but I'm wondering if this is a bit 'pie in the sky' as I've never seen 44mpg in the Vec even as slow as 60mph. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :thumbup:

I have a 1.8 Zafira and its okay on fuel around town. On the motorway its not too bad but it revs high in 5th when cruising. 44mpg is quite possible out of a 2.2 on the mway but I would think that the F23 ratios on the Zafira are different to the F23 in the Vectra.

There is no chance of breaking 28mpg around town unless its a diesel.

Thanks Johnny! :thumbup: I'm still not sure which way to go 1.8 or 2.2, but my thinking is that as my drive to work is 25 mins in a traffic cue I'm gonna get crap economy whatever I drive. But the taller ratios of the F23 box should make the 2.2 more economical on long runs oop north to see the family as it won't be revving it's nuts off.

I've bought a 2.2 Zaffy now and the F23 ratios are quite different i.e approx 3250 rpm @ 70mph as opposed to the Vectras 2500rpm at the same speed. Does anyone know how easy it will be to fit a Vectra F23? I'm assuming it should be pretty straight forward as I'm guessing the casing will be the same?? Cheers gents notsure.gif

I'm sure there will be people willing to swap gearboxes on here there has been a lot of talk on here recently about the zaffy gearbox ratio
