Mmm, just a thought, is the rev limited due to the rods or the big end cap bolts? Would it be more cost effective to simply get some ARP bolts?

its the rods
im sure i read its somthing to do with not being a squire engine like the 2.0 longer stroke puts extra strain in the thin rods
the forged rods come with arp bolts and fro £200 ish quid well worth it 🙂 are you not running the z22yh rods and pistons ?

Yes it has got the yh rods & pistons in. Do you know if the rods are the same?

ive not seen the rods up close but from the info on here there are 2 types of z22yh rods and some of them are the same as the z22se and the otheres are more like the z20net ones thicker and stronger
heres the z20net vs z22se but like i say ive never seen the yh rods the thicker ones

How come you need to change rods etc? I know you have great power for NA but many forced boys run standard internals 250+ or am I missing something?

Its basically done so they can raise the rev limiter. When i scan my graph in you'll see the power constantly going up until it hits the limiter so if the limit was higher it would give more power. With standard rods being weaker than the Eagle ones, there is more chance of it breaking one if it reved higher.

Fitted my flowed standard tb today, wish i could have had it on for the RR, but one of the motor contacts had come undone. May have helped me to the magic 200 lol!

Good result there. I thought the YH rods were better than std so surprised they restricted it to 7K?
The 68mm throttle will help at those power levels. The 65mm throttle I have is good for 5-10 bhp over the 58mm.
Also I have a new 68mm throttle for sale £95 delivered if interested?

The only place the plenium is loosing out is torque down about ft lb on my 2.4 manifold. But the torque curve is flat so better below 3000 and above 6000 than mine.

Just thought you also can't use the eagle rods with the YH pistons as the pin size is different.

The hood has the YH pistons and rods in his VX220 and CS set his rev limit to 7500.

You may have issues above 7200rpm with std valve springs though.

Thanks for the offer of the 68, but Evocarlos is bringing one to Billing for me. Do you happen to know if the Saab B207 head uses better springs than the Z22se as this is Saab headed? I'm very pleased with how its turned out, but to be 3.5bhp under 200 is a bit infuriating lol

I think the Saab springs are the same. The cheapest upgrade are the dbilas springs. From memory they are under £200 and a straight fit.

Also really think the OBD tuner would be a good addition for this engine but appreciate it is expensive.

What does the OBD tuner do? Will have to have a chat with CS again sometime to see what is next on my mods list and springs is obviously an easy one.
