Had a great day yesterday, was a long one though, as I drove straight down after finishing a 12 hour night shift!
For Nige's bumper, here is what it looked like before
I then wet sanded it back using some 2500 grit Meguiars wet and dry
I managed to get most of the finer marks out, but the deep scratches are though into the primer, but it gives Nige a good place to start with if he decides to touch them up with some paint.
It took 3 passes with Menzerna Power Finish PO203s and a Sonus SFX-1 4" Spot Pad, I then gave another pass using Menzerna Final Finish PO106 FA and a Sonus SFX-4 Final Gloss Seal and Protect Spot Pad.
As Nige wasn't happy with the rest of the car, I just sealed it with a coat of NXT Gen 2 wax.
The car runs sweet as a nut now. The drivers side pads were ceased to the calipers, so Neil freed them up and gave the brakes a going over. VX have stamped the book saying the oil/filter had been changed before I bought the car, when it clearly hasn't. The oil was black when it came out, and the filter was caked in crap.
Gear change is now a lot smoother, especially from cold with the new gear box oil in. It took 2.3 litre to fill the M32.
It's also now running 0W40 Mobil 1, and the engine seems to be responding a lot better with it in. Seems daft I know, but you can really tell a difference. It's like a totally different car to drive.
The new brake fluid has also made the clutch feel a lot better as well.
The trip there and back was 273 miles, and I managed 37.2mpg (calculated manually), which I'm over the moon with!
