Engine swap dilemma...?

Hi guys this is my first post and just looking for some advice cheers...

Had my Vectra B 2.2 sri 150 for about 5 years now and never want to give it up, the problem ive got is my timing chain snapped (65kmiles) and completely knackered my engine. I've been searching for engines that i could do a straight replacement but have been getting mixed suggestions from mechanics and friends etc...

Had originally wanted to put in a 2.5 V6 as someone i know said it would be easy enough to do but then others say its impossible and would have to be another Z22se engine i put in, then another guy said i could get a 2.2 engine from a newer model (mines is an X reg 2000 - probably should have said at the start) but dont know if a vectra C engine is completely different from my vectra B???

Any advice or suggestions would really be appreciated thanks...

...my girlfriend is nipping in my ear everyday to just scrap the vectra but dont think i could bring myself to do it as i have put a lot of work into it,
i'll try and get some pics of my car on in the next couple of days

Hello and welcome. :thumbup:

z22se engies are available. The only thing to remember is that you can get a z22se from a Vectra/Astra/Zafira and a vx220 to fit your car. BUT...you will have to change the inlet cam because of the hex drive for the power steering pump that the Vectra B has. You can take an early Vectra C z22se engine also but again, you'll have to change the inlet cam.

Really appreciate that johnny, like i said i have spent months talking to guys that didnt really know wat they were talking about but i know you guys really have the knowledge that can help me.

ATOM im just outside glasgow, would really like to hear wat you could do with regards to a tuned engine, i'll def get some pics of ma car up coz its heavily modded with custom kit and wheels, brakes, suspension to list a few and a new engine with a bit of power behind it would really finish it off nicely

spend a weekend in sunny buckingham and I can gaurentee 200+ bhp easy

Sounds good... so wat we talking about then?? do you only need the car a few days and wat sort of price bracket we talking to do your thing??

You tell me what you would like (customer requirements)
I will give you a prescription with prices
I only work on core engines block & head
all other parts must be sourced by customer (obviously I will fit said items)
typically or you to produce 200 we are talking core price £1200+
all work will be exchange if serviceable items
