Exhaust Fitment

hi guys, im looking for a decent cat back exhaust system without spendin ooodles of my cash, found a few but when i look to see if theyr compatible with the 2.2 its not listed, but on others it says all non turbo models.

basically am i safe to assume that unless its an exhaust system for a turbo model, it will fit the 2.2 astra?

Might be worth you while getting a quote from a place like Powerflow. On my Cavalier it was a lot cheaper than i thought and you get a lifetime warranty too.

would you be able to get whatever kind of exhaust u want?

Any 2ltr system will fit unless its a turbo application. You can get a lovely 2.5 inch Milltek system for your car!!

Yeah with Powerflow you pretty much get whatever you want.

just got prices back from a Powerflow dealer near aberdeen, 320 for single exit system and 410 for a dual exit system, stainless steel construction and from what i can gather, the tip i want doesnt add to the price.

Are these prices reasonable, as it will be the first time i will have ever bought an aftermarket exhaust?

Paid £400 for my Cav one 4 years ago inc cat replacement pipe...so i'd say that's about right for a Powerflow one.

As i have said b4 i'm not to keen on these exhaust place's for the simple fact that the likes of miltek, remus, piper etc spend thousands on development to get the most power and sound etc out of there exhaust systems where as from my experiance these custom exhaust makers are just bending pipes and fitting silencers??? IMHO?

so i would buy a ready made one
prob cheaper anyway??
remus race tube £60 (centre section)
and a rear silencer upto £200 max depending on make
so £60 cheaper?

in that case, can someone define to me a flange connection?

i was doin my precat at the weekend and my downpipe end is a plain bit of pipe slottin into a slightly bigger piece of pipe of the middle section, plus when i was gettin my mot done, the mechanics stuck a standard astra exhaust on in place of the irmsher backbox (really wasnt happy at that lil move) cos it was aparantly falling off and rusty.

basically im asking cos i saw the remus centre section on lmfvauxhall.com, but just wasnt sure about it, and how loud itl make the exhaust, dont want to hear the constant drone on the motorway.

Some not many astras came with a sleeve fitment and not flange.

The flange fitment will join togeather with two bolts and a gasket, the sleeve will push on and use a clamp.

It is very easy to see what type you have by just looking under the car.

as a option have a remus straight through race pipe and then a Scorpion back box

hmm, that looks like the tip on the back box i want as well

right my fitting from down pipe to middle section is a sleeve fitting, will i be able to fit it to that remus tube?

it only says that it matters what kinda fitting is at the other end connecting to the back box and if im gettin a new one of them neways im sure itl have one

right, just had a look under the car, my downpipe to middle pipe is a sleeve connection and my middle pipe to back box is a flange connection,

would i be better changing the whole lot to sleeve connection if i get a race tube and back box at the same time, or is there other things apart from the connection that changes from 2004 onwards.

is there a performance middle pipe you can buy that has a silencer as i dont want to be cruising at 77mph :roll: and hear a constant drone

Magnex in ss have centre section and rear box all in fitted £360. Milltek nice sound.
Could make your own up if ok at welding, done a few specials.
