As title.
Long story short, my timing chain became very slack (went for ages undetected, no noise, no sign, including run on the rollers) until a lot later i noticed it sounding a bit rattley. took it to a garage where the engine was stripped and diagnosed as the bolt for the tensioner had snapped leavin my chain to slap around, the chap at the garage said it had been gone for some time judging by the state of it. do'h.
I caught it just in time and managed to get away with having the chain replaced and cylinder head refurbed (due to carbon deposits) and a couple of other minor things
I am amaised it survived so long with without breaking especially a run on the rollers... bless her 😃
