Remove EGR valve & all fine...without the cheater

As I got my blanking plate from Vauxhall I thought I'd remove the EGR valve, blank it off and put up with whatever error code and warning light untill my cheater arrives. So I did and its fine, no warning lights, no error codes (I have a scangauge 2). I was expecting my dash to light up etc, but no, nothing just improved idle and the car feels much better to drive. So do I really need the cheater?

Did you leave it plugged in?

That is strange how it hasnt thrown a fault dunno..

No unplugged it, its gone and all seems well.

i think if you had disconected your battery you would have got eml light straight away when reconnecting, but if you didnt im sure you will get it sooner or later when then the ecu has done its sums so to speak

code wont flash up until you have driven it around 15 minutes

the ecu will only flag up a DTC when it has met certain criteria, i.e length of inactivity, voltage thresholds etc

same as lambda sensor

I see so maybe tomorrow it'll flag it, as long as it runs fine thats fine with me, hopefully Vocky has some cheaters ready to go out when hes back 🙂

If you have a scangauge, do a scan for codes. If the 2nd line says "Ready" then all the long term tests (including EGR) have been completed. If it says "Not ready" then the driving conditions are not met for all tests and you can still get an CEL for the EGR.
