Exhaust issue nearly gave me heart attack!!

Hi guys,

I got a 04 reg vectra C 2.2 Direct (ZE22YH) and one of the brackets that was welded onto the exhaust as rusted off - so i went to an exhuast place called HiQ that told me theres no holes and it still holding on just this hanger hanging off and went to quote me on a new centre and back boxes. . . £1100 :shock: i nearly died when he told em that - he said that currently only vauxhall parts avaiable hence the price and that i may get it bit cheaper from the stealers directly.

i only paid 3000 for the car so thats just a stupid amount of money for what im gettin, is there anywhere I can get this exhaust for cheaper as its not gonna hold on there forever with a bracket down.

May I suggest that he's taking you for a mug? That price is utter BS!

I've just been in contact with my local fitting centre in Bristol. There are 3 systems listed for your car. In the worst case scenario, £261 inc. VAT fitted!!

Don't panic mate. You will get it cheaper somewhere local to you.

okay in that case, i just called my local kwikfit and told them about hi Q's price and they started pissin themselves, and said 'even if we could get a complete gold plated genuine vauxhall exhaust it wouldn't cost that much' 😃 he was only able to quote me for the back boxes over the phone and said 160 quid for both and'i cant see the centre part costing 900 quid' :razz:
so it's booked in witht hem next sat. . . i should of gone their first.

The 3 different systems comprise of:

1x centre box and rear box with straight tail pipe.

2x centre boxes and rear box with straight tail pipe

and the 3rd system has a downward pointing tail pipe that I can only assume is for a diesel variant.

Many of us with custom built systems don't pay out £1100! I have a dBilas 4-1 cast manifold, 2.5" S/S custom downpipe inc. 200cpi cat and 2.5" S/S Milltek catback system that comes in at around £1100.

HiQ must be having a laugh lately anyway. An old dodger that lives a few door down took his Nissan Micra to HiQ in Bristol last week for a new tyre. Whilst there they advised him that he needed his front brake pads replacing. They charged him £130 just for supply and fit of pads!!

The first thing i thought when he told me was that im sure i could get a performance custom made one for a lot cheaper (which is the route i would of taken if I couldnt get it cheaper)

I'm not clued up on car parts and prices to be honest but even I know that is clearly incorrect, but your right, im sure there people out there that would of thought 'damn thats a lot of money but i still it done' and give the green light on it. tho. that may be down to being lazy and not 'shopping around'. I've never used Hi Q before and after today, never again!!

i mean jeez, ive bought perfectly working whole cars cheaper than that :razz: (well, maybe not perfectly 🙂 )

edit: HAHA, I noticed i can book it in online with kwikfit for a free exhaust check which i did to save waitng around next week, i now get £10 off for booking online. . . thats another kick in the teeth for shitty hi Q!! 😃

Well if your still thinking about getting a cutom made one have a look at places like longlife exhaust ive got quoted around 350 quid for a stainless system from cat back i think that was from powerflow, very good value for money considering you wont ever buy another exhaust sytem dunno..

Cant you just get the bracket welded back onto your existing pipe?

hmmm, im not sure, theres a lot of rust over that Y pipe and where the hanger was has completely rusted over, tho dunno if its all just surface. notsure.gif
