It has done 92k now. The chain broke 2k ago, the previous owner got it all fixed with a new head, chain kit, cams etc and I have had my garage confirm that. However, it's started leaking what I think it water, but have been told it's oil from the front offside of the engine.Possibly from the chain cover. It goes into the garage on Tuesday to be cleaned down to see where the leak is from. There also appears to be water in the oil and last night I noticed on tick over it sounds a bit like a diesel.
I love the car to bits. I used to have a 1.8 16v bertone a few years ago and wanted another ever since. I am not going to get rid of her or break her.
The only reason I said they seen unrealiable as the more I research the cam chain seems to be a real problem and breaking as little as 50k when I thought they were meant to last until at least 150k. Plus I have a 16 year old Corrado that has done nearly 200k whcih has never had any probs.
This engine has surprised me though, with how quick it is! Just have to touch the accelerator and your gone! 😃
