how do you get crankshaft pulley off a 2.2 automatic if you dont have a locking tool

get someone to put it in park, foot on the brake while you undo the nut

ive read on here you cant do that with a automatic it says it wont lock engine

Sure its not the preffered way and is not without its risks...but...on the ones i've done, i've locked the pulley by putting an extension bar through it and onto the oil pump casing and then simply undoing the bolt with a long cracking bar. Same for re-assembly, and as you know....they go tight lol. Like i said..there is a risk of damage to the casing, but so far i've had no problems :thumbup:

correct
but if you have access to an impact gun whether air or the newer styled re-chargeable types, these should have sufficient torque to break without the need to lock the engine.

on my automatic z22se in astra g i've blocked the crankshaft pulley with a big metal pice like a big screwdriver or so. and than left round the screw.
it goes better with 2 person

a few years ago, i had an omega from opel with normel gearbox but the screw of the crankshaft pulley don't want to come.
so i take a rond nut and a long pip and clamped it under subfloor of the car. and then little start the engine and direkt turn off engine.
and it goes good.
