Just having a read through the owners manual, and it does specifically say:

"For vehicles with Z20 LEH engine, use of 95 RON fuel reduces performance and torque"

Will have to point this out to the wife and tell her to stop complaining when I have to full up with V-Power 😃

I have to use V power in the wifes mini as well as my vx

I'm thinking about using a fuel octane booster ...

Always fill the scoob and coupe with the v-power........and at a push texaco super duper stuff

There isn't a tesco near me, so I've used V-Power in the Astra. There is a BP garage behind the house, but it's cheaper to buy Shell 99 than BP 98.

the texaco stuff near my works is 3p a litre more than shell v power near home....so texaco is a last resort....

have you noticed a difference using different octane fuels

personally i would only tend to use the stuff they have on offer in europe like over 100 octane

i seem em fill up their evos with the stuff and the smell it gives off is like being at the roadside at the WRC

I've never used anything other than Shell V-Power in the Astra, so couldn't tell you. There are loads of threads on VXROnline with people saying their cars run rough on 95 RON.

i wudnt even let mine or alys cars get a sniff of 95....on the scooby forums they say IF and Only If you have to use 95 as a last resort...never to go on boost....

I was told by Mr. Shield quite clearly that my car must be run on 99 once the SC had been fitted. Anything else would cause concern for the burn!!

and tuners actually map cars to specifically run on 99. You can use it in the Astra, but you'll loose power and torque, as the knock control system automatically adjusts the ignition timing.

On jems it says 98 RON only on the petrol cap!

Although my mate had a new shape s3 mapped always ran on 95ron and on decent rollers pulled 313bhp !!! makes you think

They can map them to run on 95ron, just means it runs a bit less.

compression pressure is higher due to a greater volume of charge
therefore same affect as increasing compression ratio (variable)
