Oil Consumption 2 litres per month

Hi guys

How much oil should my 2.2 vectra use? I am getting through about two litres a month by doing 500 miles. I have had the car checked. Compression test was fine and its not visably burning oil.

Any ideas?

That is an excessive amount of oil your using there. The recommended useage on the z22se engine is one litre per 1000 miles, have you check the obvious, oil on drive way, oil leak? I was using some oil then when my car was on ramps i saw that the lower pulley on the aux belt was leaking, got it changed a now doesn't use a drop.

i havent lost a drop in 5k so you have a serious problem.
unless you have bad control ring wear you shouldnt loose very much at all.
an engine rebuild or replacement i think here.

If it not smoking on startup then not sure.

Mine did this and was the pistons, but mine smoked a bit on cold startup.

Possibly stem valve seals but once again i would think it would show traces of smoke on startup.

Somthing is seriously wrong though to consume this amount of oil.

was comp test wet or dry? was engine hot or cold when it was done? get a leak down test done on the engine.

did you find out were you where loosing oil from mate?
