Tuning box on its way

As a few of you know i have been looking to boost the power on my 1.9cdti and after some advice from matt, vocky and johnnyN cheers.. i have bit the bullet and bought 1,

i offered him £150 to buy it now and he agreed on condition that i didnt pay through paypal to save the fee's

i must admit, i was shocked when he agreed to £150! :thumbup: seen as he only bought it in dec 09 (he is sending the receipt as proof for the warrenty)
lucky git has landed a job with a company car. :sick: his advice was to put it on setting 7 for most ifficiency ie power to fuel consumption ratio, would this be true or is it a case of trial and error? shrug.. shrug..

you need to set them up to each veichle really till u find the setting your happy with the most,
just becare full on not being flat ouit to much as i have heard and read about so many dervs g/boxes dieing because of these boxes. to much torque for the box.

For full power, I ran mine on 11, but I found it really agressive with how it was delivering it. I ran mine on a day to day basis on 6. When they actually come from DTUK, they are set to 8.

But as Scott said, some cars respond differently to them, so it is just a case of trying it and seeing what feels best. As long as you don't get the EML on full throttle, and there isn't too much smoke, you'll be OK.

lol, just be careful when installing it, as it's very easy to get the plug connections the wrong way round. If you do, the car will start, but will sit at 1500rpm at idle. It will also through the EML on, which needs to be reset by tech-2 or suitable code reader.

well i managed to istall it without f**king it up which is a first for me!

it has now made me realise that my mk4 z22 must have only had around 75 horses with swine flu left under the hood rofl..

You can't get the same nice exhaust note of a diesel as you can on a petrol. They do sell performance exhausts for the CDTI, but they don't relly do anything. You can also run the CDTI with no cats, as they don't do an emission test @ MOT, just a smoke test.

If you want to really be able to hear the turbo spool up and give a great whistle, fit a Simota induction kit. I had one of these fitted to the Vectra

To be honest, to get any more out of the CDTI, your looking at hybrid turbos and FMIC's, to then only really get another 40bhp, at a cost of several thousand pounds.
The tuning box really is the best bang for your buck.
