Opel Ascona SR/E 3ltr!

I was out in the wifes car on Friday night after doing a service on her car when an immaculate car pulled out from a junction just up the road. I followed it to the traffic lights when I noticed it was an MK2 Opel Ascona (Vauxhall Cavalier) SR/E 3.0!! I was begging it to blast off from the lights just so that I could hear that engine and it wasn't long before my wish was granted.

Turns out its the founder of http://www.mk2cav.com

His name is Andy and he lives just up the road from me. I've never seen this car before and I believe that he's had it for 5 years too. The restoration is fantastic and the car is simply stunning. Below is a link to his video of his car and its transformation. Enjoy!!

He was taking it reletively easy up the hill. I was trying to rev the tits off the Zafira to keep up. The car sounded fantastic.

Fantastic, the best car our family ever owned was a metallic maroon SRi saloon (C393DWU) bought new (I was only about 13). If I ever came across a matching car I would buy it in a flash, although my old man would probably want the keys off me.

My 2nd car was a 1.6gls (C668 CFC) ended up as a 2.0 8v on twin 40's....sri 130 interior etc....

ANd another mark 2 i had 1.6 lx

Just got round to watching that vid.

First car I remember my granddad having was a 1983 Cav SRI 130. My uncle worked for VX so fitted high lift cams without telling him until a year later 😃

fair play to him! :thumbup: we have a lot of mk1 astra conversions round here its nice to see things like that getting restored rather than forgotten.

my mrs would cut me tackle off and use em as a little purse if i spent that much time on a car!
