Here we go guys, after my brief foray into Vauxhall ownership time has come to sell my car as I need to get a new estate.
I have included the copy of the add I am using on Pistonheads, just to reitterate, I HAVE SPENT A SMALL FORTUNE GETTING THIS CAR FIXED, only wish I had is I could have made it down to Benny to get the chains replaced and saved myself a bit of money, had to get it done locally in the end as couldnt get the time off work.
Here we have an 03 reg Astra Linea Rossa special edition Coupe with the very smooth and powerful 2.2 litre four cyclinder engine.
I bought this car in November and have spent a small fortune on it since then getting a couple of problems sorted. I have only decided to sell it as I am after an MG ZT estate (ZT-T) for work as my other car a Rover 75 estate is getting abit long in the tooth, so this needs to go to get some funds.
It has had two previous owners and is in immaculate condition. It is a silverly blue colour, which is very nice with excellent red and black leather interior. It has aircon, heated seats, traction control, heated mirrors, alloy wheels and cd player - basically all the extras that could go on it. When I bought it it had a slight missfire which I thought would be an easy fix, in the process of rectifying it I found out that the alternator had also packed up, all common faults on Vauxhalls.
In the end I have ended up fitting a;
New Alternator £130 + £70 fitting
A new coolant temperature sensor £10 fitted at the same time as the alternator
A new EGR valve £103 plus it cost £54 to get this diagnosed
Just had a new timing chain fitted at a cost of £346.00.
This was a preventative action rather than anything else because if your interested in these cars you will be well aware that they are prone to snapping them, never take a chance with these engines as a top end rebuild after a snapped chain will cost in the region of £1500!
This car has now had everything replaced on it that is likley to go wrong and is a much better prospect that some car for £2500 - £3000 that hasnt hads it egr valve, alternator or timing chains replaced!
It has also had a MOT in November 09 and so is good until 20th November 2010
It is taxed until December 2010
Prior to me getting it, it had also had a new water pump and exhaust manifold fitted in February 2009, the total for this came to £406.82 and it was done at the local Vauxhall dealer, Dobbies.
It is now on 79k but is running great, just got it serviced too and in the process of doing so have changed the oil, fitted a new oil filter, new air filter and new plugs, total cost for parts £40.02
Like I said before its a special edition and so looks the part and is a bit rarer, was offered very close to what I am asking for it as a part exchange by Arnold Clark and Carcraft but just waiting for them to get the right MG in, if I sell it before then then I can also look at other places.
Will only consider a part exchange for a very nice clean MG ZT-T preferably a diesel or possibly a 1.8 petrol or maybe a late model Rover 75 estate.
If anybody wants some more pictures just email me and I will get them sent across.
