Hi all,
Following my noisy chain on startup decided to do both chains.
Also due to flames out of the header tank (see my other post) decided to do the head gasket. Some photos of the progress:

Chain quite slack, after I took it out was about 1/1 and a half links longer than the new one. The new jet was installed though.

Shot of the head, cams have no lip on whatsoever. When I took it to benny over 2 years ago he told me it had had a new head (and so wouldn't do the chain). Decided to tackle it myself this time, so was nice to see the cams in such a good state!

Well not quite but it looks like one doesn't it!!! One thing I noticed about the new water pump was how much larger the holes were in the impeller than on the standard one (sorry didn't take photos, but on the standard one they are tiny cocktail stick sized holes and on the new one are far bigger slats) not to mention the metal impeller on the new one rather than the plastic impeller of the old one.
