Spoof viruses???

Ive had this happen to me a couple of times where ill be looking on the net then randomly a warning will come up were aparently i have this email worm and that trojan and that i need to download an anty virus software to get rid of it :wtf:

Scares the sh*t out of me but if i close all the web pages the warnings go and then run a full scan with avast or a full version of kesperski that i had a while ago my computer is fully clean :eh:

Now am i rite in thinking that basicly those warnings are a load of old boll*x?

Or do i actualy have those viruses and my antyvirus cant find them?

Those warnings are usually a trojan themself telling you that you need to "download and purchase" their software to remove it.

What antivirus are you running?

Also try Spybot Search & Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti Malware.

Since my incident yesterday, I've got those running along with AVG

can do 12 month subscriptions for £12.50

also i am reseller for AVG but I dont recommend it 😛

as for those java applets on your web browser that states u got virus etc and click this to clean it

as soon as you click on yes or no then your allowing that applet to download itself on to your computer thus practically allowing it access to your hard drive

i had one a few months ago similar too that burt,except this was made to look like it was to do with windows security everytime i closed it or went to another page it kept coming back ,even turning the computer off and back on again it was still there ,scared the shit out of me lol,i ran a full scan with avast ,ran spybot and adaware but none of them picked up on it ,even had my sister do remote assistance as she is a bit more clued up than me ,and she couldnt figure it out ,this was also ask that i run /download a program to get rid off it .in the end i did a system restore that got off the bugger.done some looking up on the net and turns out if i had run/downloaded the program to get rid of it ,the virus was actually in that,was with avast now with comodo find that quite good ,picks up on the viruses more than the avast did

I've ended up re-installing Windows today because of my issues yesterday.

there was a real nasty virus going around last year

it infected every web browser and basically when u typed in a web page into the browser it would take u elsewhere such as penis enlargment [like i need it pfft], however if u googled your site and click on the organic links then it would take u there

it was very nasty to remove

to remove a virus your best off turning off system restore, delete associated reg entries in safe mode and also associated system volume folders and do a virus scan in safe mode

problem with xp is that virus are automatically chucked in system restore volumes once installed and it is a bugger to remove due to xp's resident file checker and .dll protection

Im just running scans then ill see what comes up.

I didn't click on any of the warnings when i came up and i havent had any since so hopefully it'l be ok. Otherwise ill reboot it agin :crazy:

I just finished downloading spyware doctor and it tryed to run a scan wich i canceled within the first milisecond and it instantly said detected threat buy the full version to get rid of it :lol: F**kin so full of sh*t!

I recon half of it is false its gotta be just a way of scaring those crisp notes out of your wallet!!

It started a scan but i stoped it instantly then i said i have a low risk aplication tracking cookie, how could it tell that if it only scanned for just under a second?

C:\Documents and Settings*\Cookies

delete anything inside that folder and any other user profile with cookies in the cookie folder including your internet temp folder

Deleted all that mike :thumbup:

Malwarebytes full scan completed and no malicious threats or infections detected 😃

And that spyware doctor is going in the bin.

Im happy enough with that so ill leave it for now and keep an eye on things.
