Exhaust 2.0 Turbo

I had an exhaust fitted to my car a few months back now and when I got it fitted they asked if I wanted it loud, I just said not too loud. They fitted a middle box onto my system, I am now thinking of getting it taken off as my standard system never had a middle box to start with. What would you do? If my car never had one as standard should I have it removed? My system at the moment is not loud at all, not far from standard sound I think. This has been playing on my mind now for 2 weeks. Is the powerflow exhaust a larger internal diameter than the OE one?
The middle section will simply be there for the noise reduction, and shouldn't affect power. It the same with the piper/milket ones for the Astra. They come with 0, 1 or 2 silencers fitted:

Really just depends on how loud you want the system.

I think the lads with the Net's and without the centre boxes on there custom zorsts all get one fitted in the end, they said the droning on the motorway was just too annoying.

Whats droning, vibes from the exhaust? It's the same size as the standard exhaust Matt. But the standard exhaust never had the middle box, they fitted one on my new system.

Your back boxes won't have as much sound deadening properties as the OE boxes, so the middle box will be required to bring the noise level back down.

My old 106 was a nightmare on the motorway. That was straight through from the manifold with no cat. The wife had to wear ear plugs for 6 hours on the drive to Cornwall.

Just like a constant din, the early VXR Vectra suffered from it, the later VXR's fitted a centre box to sort the problem. There just a straight through pipe, perforated and housed in a box with sound deafening material, no real performance gains to be had. The back boxes on the Vec C were huge which is why your old system never needed the centre box.
