Memory cards

I'm looking to replace my 'old' Olympus Stylus digital camera as its buggered basically! The LCD screen has stopped working and the charger has tempermental issues.

I used to have a Fuji Finepix many years ago which took an XD memory card. I bought the Olympus because that also took an XD card. Now that I have been looking for a new camera again, i've noticed that 99% of the new cameras have SD/SDHC cards. Are they phasing out XD now then?

SD/SDHC are basically the new standard with Cameras John, due to their ability to store larger amounts of data. I've got a couple of SDHC cards which hold 4GB each, and they were less than £20 each 2 years ago.

They are going to be doing SD cards with a 2TB capacity!

Thanks for that Matt. My big Fuji can make use of our old XD cards now then. The Olympus was for Chris to use really and I use it when I can't be bothered to lug round the Fuji.

Looks like i'll be off out to by a new compact shortly now then.
