Price for 2.2 chain change?

Anyone know the price for the 2.2 timing chain to be changed from the dealers / Vauxhall. I am thinking about getting mine done just to be safe 🙂

I had mine done last year as it started sounding like a diesel on start up. Their are two chains, the timing and balance shaft chain. The whole lot cost me wait for it.......£567! :shock:
It is worth getting them both done at once, works out cheaper in the long run as once they take the timing chain off its only about another hours work to do the balance shaft chain.
Hope thats not put you off lol.

I phoned up Vauxhall and they said the timing chain kit was £92 + vat and the labour was £252 + vat so thats about £405. In the kit would that cover both chains? Cheers

That sounds like it`s just for the timing chain, i bought one from vauxhall for about £120 (inc vat) with the intention of getting a friend to do it, but then i took it to vauxhall who recommended doing the balance shaft chain as they could not be sure which chain was causing ther noise!

I do hope it's for both chains so I can have peace and mind when driving around knowing my chain is fine 🙂 . Cheers

Ask around some independant garages. Tell them you will supply the chain / chain kit and see what they have to say. You always pay top dollar at Vx and you might be pleasantly surprised 🙂

........i know i may regret saying this but ..im a vx tech and fit these kits on the side ..£250 all in this includes a chain kit 1 gasket and 1 seal oil and filter ....im in the west midlands and i can doo them at my house ......griffin from club vec came from chester to have one fitted if you go to club vec all the details about the job are there

On the Vectra B 150 SRI the timing chain should not cost anything as they are cover up to six years or sixty thousand miles which ever comes first.

Mine was done f.o.c and the car was eight months out of warranty at the time. The early B engines where American produced and did have a problem with oil starvation to the hydraulic tensenior and the oil spray nozzle for the chain, so vauxhall know there is a problem.

Dont pay money for a noisy chain -- talk to your dealer.

vauxhall did mine for free, as mine supposedly hadnt been replaced when there was a call back. 😃

still sounds like a diesel, but they are now saying its my something-or-other tensioner which i have to pay £140 for.

If i were u amanda i would ask them why the tensioner was not done in the first place. It makes no sense to replace the chain without doing the tensioner.
I could very well be wrong though so don`t hold me to that, lol

The hydraulic tensioner comes in the vauxhall chain kit, so if its not been changed looks like the full monty has not been done.
