Thanks for all your input guys, it is a pain in the ar*e, the spanner/car symbol just keeps flashing, a local auto electrician said he will recode the new sim/key/ecu for £75 just hope it cures the staring problem, probably tow it up there tomorrow

Would't it be worth cutting your losses and going to a vx dealer or have you been there and done that?

Swirl flaps, 3rd injector, EGR................ Its a good engine when working correctly but one hell of a dog the rest of the time. I think most of its problems are caused by how cheep you can tune um, £68 for a plug in box to give you an instant 35-40 horses.

Hi Burt, not been to VX trying to avoid them, but with new ecu, sim and transponders fitted, a local auto electrician is going to programme them all in for me and get rid of the padlock for £75 not bad, i just hope it starts after that, since new ecu has been put on it has solved lots of problems so i am pleased to say the ecu was definitely boloxed so not a waste of money :-)

Mike, on the throttle body issue, the veccy b and c should be the same shouldn't they, they are both z22se engines? when i put the engine in the vec c it run fine just idling at about 1400rpm, i put this down to an air leak probably on the inlet manifold as i used the old gaskets (rubbers) and i should have put the new one in, the engine run sweet as a nut in the veccy b with no fault codes or anything

they did introduce a different TB on the late vectra C's where as the seal was on the throttle body oppose to the inlet manifold

u would notice that anyway m8 🙂

does sound like an air leak but on this engine the ecu compensates by reducing the angle position of the throttle body, i.e from 7% to 2%

Well, moving further on.. it turns out i have to buy a tech2 cleared ecu, you just cant take one off a veccyc 2.2 and swap all the bits over, it needs a clean wiped ecu then taken to a decent diagnostics place and they will just reprogram it all, so if anyone has a tech2 cleared ecu for a veccy c z22se for sale i am more than interested, next step if i dont sort it is just break the whole car, but its too good to do that reall cos its so fully loaded with factory fitted sat nav, full genuine irmscher kit, roof screen headrest screens playstation, dvd player and its just mint but hey ho ive had enough now lol

That sounds like a nice car and fully loaded :thumbup: Would be a shame to scrap it. Got any interior pics?
