Did it break not long after that :? . You can tell the chain was catching something a bit. So what happened next?

well had just bought the car a week before it started so straight back to the dealer. phoned before hand and went to see the mechanic. but the dealers is like a twenty minute drive so drove carall the way with the diesel engine and just as i turned into the dealers the noise stopped and it was quiet again :shock: so dealer and mechanic start the "wel if we cant hear it then we cant do much" patter :evil: was well pissed off and left then on the way home it started again so next day went back and the same f*&^ing thing happened. just at the turn in to the dealers. so went in anyway and argued with them for a while but they werent budging. so was about to go burn it when it made the noise again just as i was leaving. 😃 only time you want your car to break. so they came heard it and turned the ignition straight off and gave me a courtesy car till it was fixed. made sure it was the new kit with the uprated nozzle n stuff. so alls well now. sorry bout the long rant but kinda long story. munchies..

Cool, it's nice to hear the results. The same sort of thing happened to my Sri with the management light. It was on so I took it to the dealers, as I turned up it went off, they gave it a cleaning over but could not get a reading on the Tech 2 as the light had gone off :roll: . Then a day later the light came back on again, I took it down again and it went off as I was pulling in to the dealers rofl.. . The next day as I booked it in I drove around near to the dealers til the light came on and I rushed it in so they could see it was on and get a Tech 2 reading :lol:

How much was it for the new cam chain? It might be worth me getting mine done just for peace of mind notsure.gif

not sure it was under warranty but i think the mechanic said it was 90 something for the kit. but i dont know how much fitting would be.

i think the fitting is quite a legthy job if going by the tis manual it says its about 4 hours or so. and mine wasnt done at vauxhall it was a peugeot dealers. so they might be cheaper.

chain kit is @ £95, but 'benny' can supply them at a good price (on ebay)

I fitted a new kit to mine, 4 hours is a fair time for the job

after mine got done i changed my oil to fully synthetic. would this help prevent the problem happening again? it certainly feels better to drive with the new oil imo.

on the vid clip that does sound like timingchain and knowing they are a problem thats what i would go for ........i know i may regret saying this but ..im a vx tech and fit these kits on the side ..£250 all in this includes a chain kit 1 gasket and 1 seal oil and filter ....im in the west midlands and i can doo them at my house ......criffin from club vec came from chester to have one fitted if you go to club vec all the details about the job are there
