Cuts out after 10-15 secs with no acceleration

Hi all you helpfuls 😉

I have this cutting out problem with my 2.2 150 Sri.

Car starts and is very 'lumpy' then after about 10 - 15 secs if left (no acceleration) it cuts out.
If I start the car and accelerate (non driving) the car just idles and the revs hardly move, eventually cuts out (10-15 secs)
If I start the car with the accelerator to the floor, the revs go up a bit then after the 10-15 secs it cuts out (When I done this there was lots of white smoke coming from the exhaust and it smelled bad)

I also noticed that the radiator was smoking a bit if I kept starting it over a period of time (Maybe just cold)

Now the EML & TC lights are on.

I have done the following to try and fix this issue:-

removed and cleaned the Throttle body and it looks like new
Check all air pipes (No leaks from what I can see)
removed fuse 35 (TC) the TC light is still on
Reset ECU

Still I have this issue 🙁

I did have it at a garage and they are saying it needs a new ECU and throttle body at a cost of £1200.
I don't think it is the TB as I have cleaned it and tested it and it seems fine (Butterfly Opens when accelerator pressed)
Plus how could the ECU be faulty if the car starts etc....

Perhaps it's a sensor or something.

Any thoughts on this everlasting problem?

Interestingly it's not the Engine management light that is on, it's the exhaust emissions light as i just found out...
Bizarre how the Exhaust light has an engine and the Engine management light is spanners lol

Perhaps it's the Lamba sensor or cat?

unbolt the cat m8

3 bolts to remove cat / downpipe from manifold

the car will run still but it will be very loud

hope to god your pre cat is not the reason

ok i will have a blast at that tomorrow.

What is the pre-cat?

miniature cat that sits at the top of the downpipe that joins to the manifold, nmine broke off and wedged itself down the downpipe thus i lost 75% of power amongst other things

thing is the TC light will come on with the car goes into limp mode m8 so u might have major sensor failure such as crank sensor

why dont u just buy a cheap code reader off ebay for £30 and take it from there cos all your doing atm is relying on hunches and advice on the internet, there is only so much we can do

Yes I am going to buy a cheap Opcom reader from Ebay.. That should hopefully Specifically pin point my issue 🙂
