Corsa C Flashing F and won't start

Hello All,

My mums 03 1.2 Corsa C auto (easytronic/triptonic) is refusing to start and has an F flashing on the dash.

Does anybody have any ideas what's wrong??

get a cheap code reader that will read codes m8 🙂 - worth giving gendan a ring if you unsure of what reader u need, they offer discounts to www.z22se.co.uk as well if you nice enough

the F is related to your auto gearbox

dont want to scare you but there is a history with the easytronic gearboxes on the corsa m8 relating to the actuator

Well, Amy's Corsa has got the flashing F this morning. The car starts, but it won't select any gear. :banghead:

I'm ready to burn the fucker out Mike! This car has been a money pit from the outset.

I've been home this morning and disconnected the battery, and I'll reconnect it when I get home this evening to see if it will clear it.

I only fitted a new battery to it last night as it was struggling to start after being stood for a few hours. Now it starts first time, but the gearbox appears shagged.

Have you had any luck Matt, just had a scoot around the web the dreaded F doesn't sound good.

Nope, no luck mate. Everything works on the car, apart from the fucking gearbox. You can have the actuator reconditioned for £150, but it still needs to be removed and set up again with a tech 2 from what I've read

Don't know how true this is but someone on another forum says they fiddled with a grub screw on the actuator and it held the fault at bay for a while but was a very temp fix.

some cars are like this matt, comes down to luck imo as you can never be 100% sure you got a decent motor

bought an astra gsi redtop early version [cork gaskets on everything] and the previous cnt of an owner sold it me with a cracked gearbox housing, siliconed to fck every leaking gasket, cost me 1300 and i forked ut another 2k in repairs, I then sold it for 750 as i was sick of the sight of it

sometimes matt it is best to move it on and take a loss lol

Theres a slot under a grommit apparently, that you can turn with a flatblade screwdriver which can put it back into a usable state...

I've read about that Daz, but from what I can tell, that is only if the car is stuck in gear, and won't start, as it's used to release the clutch to enable you to tow the car to a garage.

I've found a mobile VX mechanic in Sheffield, so I'm going to be giving him a call today to see if he can come and have a look at it, and at least read the gearbox ECU fault codes.

It's alive! Mechanic has been out this morning, and he's been able to reset the gearbox ECU, and it's driving OK now. It's shown a couple of fault codes which he's going to take a look at, but at least it's moving now!

She's driven it to work this morning, no EML and all seems to be OK. We are still going to be looking at getting rid in the very near future though.

Hi iv just had a quick look through this discussion and there are a few good code readers on ebay, i have a couple of them, 1 is a orange code reader that reads and deletes OBD2 fault codes that cost about £20 and i bought a diagnostic cable that connects to the laptop and comes with a program cd this is brilliant for the money about £15 you can do real time diagnostic like checking abs sensors etc and u can run 0-60 times etc, if any body needs any codes reading let me know if your local to chesterfield as garages charge about £20 just to read codes, nice 1

I have the orange U480 code reader, and that reads engine ECU's fine. Could really do with OPCOM for anything else, but I'm always wary of cloned copies, as they have been known to brick ECUs in the wrong hands.

Yeh thats the one iv got. But the cable and program has so many more functions, not that i know how to use them iv just read a few codes and reset them and i ran down the street to see the 0-60 drag strip time funtion not that i went flat out but it did work well. nice 1
