New VX Vectra 2.2 Design Direct

Hi Guys,

First post here as I have just purchased an 04 reg vauxhall Vectra 2.2 Direct Design, 73000 miles with full service history. :wave:

Been reading the boards which has scared the crap outta me so i wanna make sure i look after this beast correctly.

I have decided that I will get the cam chains done now for piece of mind, anyone recommend anywhere that can do a good job for a good price? i live in East Berkshire area, i think vauxhall are gonna charge silly monies.

Also, just wanna run something by you guys, the car itself seems fine, drives very well, no warning lights on etc. But i do find that when starting from cold, or like left overnight and then starting int he morning for work, there is a sqweeking noise coming from the engine area. Its hard to explain but the sqweeking does seem to have a pattern, its like SQWEEK, then smaller sqweek, sqweek sqweek, over and over which gets faster and quieter when accelerator is pressed. after a certain amount of time, it will stop. its done this for a few days and i have just assumed its just a cold and worn aux belt.

Welcome to the site. You can always try benny on here for getting the chain done. People travel from all over the UK for him to do the work. He's based in Wolverhampton.

by the way, the sqweeking pattern changed on the way home just now, it was just a sqweek, sqweek sqweek etc so forget all that other sqweeking talk :wink: (describing sounds is hard). im still pretty sure is just the fan belt anyways so ill get that changed too. :thumbup:

Hey guys,

Went and saw benny saturaday just gone for a piece of mind camchain change. . . well recommended guys, he did a fantastic job.

had the whole thing done in about 2 and a half hours and got to watch the whole thing done in front of me which I found very interesting, could tell he know excatly what he was doing. gave me some tips too and what things to watch out for which i thought was very helpful AND now that damn annoyng sqweaking has gone 😃

turned out that the chain was fine anyways, but now i can relax in knowing ive got a brand new chain on there 8) and for the price was well worth the 2 and a half hour drive up there!! I would recommend benny to ANYONE needing their chains changed!!
