Hope someone can shed a bit of light on this for me, bought an astra coupe 2.2 for the wife and it is tapping constantly not just when cold or anything, took it to a garage and they said replace all 16 tappets at £650, no thank you. Since then we found a misfire too so a mechanic has striped the head off and i took it to a head specialist they said head is fine and valve are seated correct they are going to reskim for me anyway. Someone there said though that the tapping would be timing chain so im replacing that and balance chain and new headset but what about the misfire, valves fine, pistons fine, no compression on no:1 is it the piston compression rings?
