right, iv had an astra for around 6 months now, driven it for 10 days, chain snapped :thumbdown: , got legal, long story short, im payin to fix it. thats water under the bridge :wave: , out to sea and most probly drunk again in the time its taken.

im due to get it back soon, and itl be standard and fresh, so iv started gettin sum stuff together, got meself a courtney sport panel filter, looks good, a vec c diesel air pipe and adaptor for 15 quid, which im well happy with. i plan to remove the precat and de restrict the airbox as well, since iv got the tweeking bug now cos iv just been thinkin wot i would do to my car the entire time its been sittin there gettin older.

does anyone have a reasonable guess what sortta power i might be lookin at after this, its a 53 plates engine thats gettin dropped in. notsure.gif

Just a guess but prob about 155-160 if your lucky dunno.. to be honest its hard to say really and certainly not accurately
as you have to take into account so many variables notsure.gif like how well the replacement engine's been tret and other bits
the engine could have been serviced regular but still be a bad batch so to speak or you could be lucky and get a sweet
engine ask most of the regular lads on here, its a good start though and can only help to improve it but would recomend
you look on here about how to remove the pre cat before you start bud next might be performance exhaust if your
doing that to the cat if you havent already got one :thumbup:

no i dont, theyr outta my price range for the moment, but i have see a remus back box thing i want, dont know if its technically a back box, its the dual exit exhast, i like the look of 1 working pipe either side of the car

Just a suggestion bud but might be worth taking your time and browsing these sites plus fleabay
for second hand system with all this weather chances are you might pick one up cheap from someone
or post a couple of wanteds for right price etc.... if its cheap bit of BHP your after better than just a back
box coz at some point you'll prob want the rest of the system anyway costing you even more in the long run. dunno..

good point, forgot bout the infectious disease of christmas impulse buying, if i went for the back box, is the rest of the system more expensive by a long way compared to buying it as one thing? cheers..

Depends on here some of the lads have bits lying around you could
get lucky and pick up your exhaust in sections cheap or get some
bits cheap then find the dont fit together its the chance you take
by mix n match think i paid £300 for a full stainless cat back system
that was including fitting and lifetime warantee so never had to worry
about the exhaust again :thumbup: but it depends on how long you
can wait till you scape the cash ???

a place called rebel powerpipes in barton upon humber i've had 4 exhausts done there
bloke called Depak he's good and designs it as close as he can to what you want
including different styles of tail pipe and if you know anyone else that fancy's an
exhaust he tries to do discount for more than one if you know what i mean
dont know if the prices have changed but i have recommended him b4
i just like the idea once its done it'll out last the car prob

another thing i wanted to clarify as well, when i eventually lower my astra, 30 mm on standar shocks, this wont damage or impair them will it, still be as effective as they are now?

should be fine with just a 30mm drop

Also another free mod to do would be polish and port your throttle body. Depending on how confident/patient you are.

Wont add much it the way of bhp but adds to the drivability of the car and throttle respone.

hmmm, that sound interesting, what tools would you recommend, i see that theres a few versions of how to achieve it, but dnt wanna buy another one if i fudge it 1st time

Best thing is a dremel or equivelent. Even If you just smooth out the lumps then give it a good polish it'l improve it altho the more you take the better!
