There are 2 tensioners. The lower tensioner for the balance shaft chain which has a pin/clip that you pull out to release and then the main upper chain tensioner which has to be released by using a long lever pressed against the chain to release it once everything has been timed up. This is done from the top before the cam cover goes back on.
