the tensioner bearings on the aux belt(the belt that goes around the alternator) have gone on my vectra, can someone tell me if i should replace the belt and tensioners and if so where to buy and is it a hard job?

i live in hatfield in hertfordshire if this is relevant 😃 😃 😃

aux tensioner

the bearings have gone on my aux belt tensioner( the belt that goes around the alternator, not very good with part names) do i need to replace just the tensioner and bearings or do i need to replace tensioner and the belt too? if so where can i buy and how much? also is is a hard job to do myself? :roll:

worth replacing both m8

belt costs around £10 - £20 quid

tensioner costs a bit less

easier if you had another set of hands as one can adjust the tensioner whilst u put the belt on

you can get the tensioner from ebay or the dealer

it's not too hard to fit, just a single 15mm bolt holds the tensioner on :thumbup:

thanx didnt realise it was so easy i might give it a go my self i did a bit if diy on me v6 omega, but that had a bit more room to work in!

maybe i have this wrong then as its the wheel vertically down, below the alternator wheel that the bearings have gone. i could tell cos there was smoke coming of it and when i touched it i got a nice little crescent shaped burn on my finger. also the wheel of which the bearings have gone is metal as appose to the black one in the picture. sorry for my amatureness in this situation dunno.. drool.gif 🙂

my vecy has aircon if that makes a difference?

That is the air con compressor inc. compressor clutch assy. Very expensive to replace with a brandnew part!

w w w w w w ww w what? can i get a broken unit an put it on. all i want is the belt to go round im not fussed bout the air con, id much rather have a charging battery than cool air in winter!!! :wtf:

just buy a z22se vx220 belt, they don't have aircon so just go around the alternator and crank :thumbup:

and yes it will fit with the aircon pump still fitted 😃

You should be able to find some on ebay. Also try jaysvectras, he's a trader on here that breaks Vauxhalls and usually has z22se parts.
