does anyone own a 1.9 cdti 150bhp, was looking to get 1 but 5mins of googling common problems, and im starting to think the z22se is bullet proof, opinions of them ?

to be honest if i had the choice again i'd prob of got the cdti
bud just have to look in most car mags lots of people are
starting to tune them and get big power 😃
but thats only my opinion, I've got a 2.2 but stilll think its
great these also do have a few faults just look on this site :crazy:

I had a 1.9 CDTI Vectra, and only kept it for 15 months. You either get one that had no problems, or one that is riddled with them.

I was never 100% confident in mine not breaking down, I had it go into safe mode for no apparent reason, had the EGR valve replaced after only owning the car 24 hours! There was a vibration coming through the clutch pedal.....DMF which is over £1k to have replaced, and the swirl flaps were starting to fail, as there was excessive movement of the connection bar, again, over £800 to have that replaced.

I traded mine in for the VXR, and have never looked back.

I have a vectra cdti 150 and have driven it for 75000 miles with a tuning box fitted, so far;

2 x breakdowns = alternator failed - common problem (shite alternator which has a seperate ecu and £500+ fitted)
1 x dual mass flywheel failed - common problem (£1000+ fitted :wtf: )
1 x inlet manifold failed - common problem (£1000+ fitted :wtf: )

it does go well for a diesel (approx 180 bhp with tuning box) and it does 45mpg driving the nuts off it, but it's expensive to maintain when it goes wrong :thumbdown:

so it's a 50/50 choice dunno..

If you can get one with a warranty, then it's one less thing to worry about with them.

unfortunatly the warrenty will run out after 3 years and im looking into getting something 1 yr old cuz of lovly depresiation £22000 comes down to about £9500, or i cud just keep mine and use the cash when things go wrong

TBH, the newer ones are OK, it's mainly the older ones which go wrong once the 3 year warranty has ran out.

my vec is a aug 2006 facelift model

the flywheel failed at 31000 miles - newer version fitted which is still ok 44000 miles later :thumbup:

the inlet manifold failed at 70000 miles - so not bad mileage :crazy:

the alternator is the worst failure, two breakdowns and had to be towed to the garage :thumbdown:

my advice, get a late spec 08> model with warranty, it should also have the new flywheel, then flog it at 65000 miles :lol:

It should also have the re-designed EGR and Inlet Manifold also.

Humm quite a few probs with them then, must admit think i'd go with matt's idea
if you've got the money then VXR is the winner. oh i wish
