delboy2028 my piston rings have gone on engine how much or a big job is it to do and weres the best place for parts 🙂 thanks
MikeS bottom end needs dropping doesn't get any bigger i am afraid sump / crank needs to be dropped u can take the pistons out from the top but the head needs to come off u prob need to take head off anyway to inspect the cylinder walls
rushy Is it the oil scraper rings? If so there's a VX field remedy for that as its a known fault on the Vec C (I presume its identical on all SE's) If so have you asked if VX will help with the costs? (that's assuming you have a full service history)
delboy2028 no service history at all m8 dunno what it is took it to my garage and compresstion is 8 bar on all chambers. the engine runs lumpy no power untill 2000rpm all they can say is compresstion rings.
guzgog im very suprised all pots are exactly all same low compression, i had low compression on all pots and it was timing chain had moved a couple of teeth hope that helps. cheers Stan.
delboy2028 this is what happens copied and pasted from vvoc as it saves typgine. Hi guys am getting a bit desperate now. I have got a vectra c 2003 with the z22se engine, so far been told my compression rings have gone I bought the car on the understanding it ran a little bit up and down (though it was maf sensor no eml light is on) got can home checked oil cream on the dipstick though crap. so did a compression results were; Cylinder 1. 8 nd a half bar Cylinder 2. 8 nd a half bar Cylinder 3. 8 nd a half bar Cylinder 4. 8 nd a half bar give or take half a bar so the car still ran lumpy start her up revs dropped below 500 nearly stalled then revs around 850. you pull off it has no umph on take of unless you rev the engine to 2000 rpm then you can fly off the mark. changing gear and the car judders and pops nd farts when ya revving off and has very very power when crusing it drives lovley when you slow down and drop to 3rd to turn the corner you put ya foot down and the revs dont even move stick at 1000 rpm foot to the floor you have to drop to 2nd to get the power back to drive. car had new spark plugs witch improved it a little bit got a little bit of power not loads but still same problem. facts of car are. cone filter on the engine with orignal bottom of air box still in place. think gunk around throttle body outside. no oil in water yesterday check oil level it was below min put 2 liters in now its over full how can this be? nd i mean past the plastic on the dipstick and up the wire of the dipstick, thanks for everyone who will try and help
vocky I would also say cam chain has jumped a tooth, if the rings went the compression would vary between cylinders, as they are all the same it's cam timing dunno..
si_c1978 hope your problems are solved soon its only 1 litre from the empty mark to the full mark iirc which is fine when the engine is brand new and doesnt guzzle oil, (this seems quite a silly tolerance and i believe vauxhall should have made more of an issue of regular top ups in the manual) also the z22se dipstick is crap it seems to get an air lock in it and you can check 3-4 times with nothing then it'll be overfull just like that. notsure.gif
Sjdickso Just seen these not sure if they are a good price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-VE ... 20ae5e22c0 Also may worth getting autovaux a call.
delboy2028 god knows whats going on got post here viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14811 and aparently chain looks ok but am still not sure
