CONNECT PC to TV?

Right having a bit of trouble connecting my pc to my tv notsure.gif

Ive only got a VGA out from my pc so i connected that srait to the tv cus its got a vga input in it but sometimes the screen will come up and other times it wont its a bit intermitant. Ive tried changing the screen resolution and colour. but it still only works when it wants to!

MY tv has 2 hdmi inputs a vga and 2 scart.

I poped into my local pc shop but he basicly said im stuffed so that was realy healpfull! P***K!

Anybody have any suggestions?

Have you tried using a different VGA cable first? Could be something as simple as a bent/loose pin on the VGA cable.

If that doesn't work, VGA is analogue, so you can't get VGA to HDMI, you can only get DVI to HDMI converters, so the bloke at the PC shop was right. I was in the same boat, as my old TV didn't have a VGA connection on it, so couldn't get my PC to connect to the TV

Ah i see thanks matt. I did try 2 different vga cable and both had the same affect. Its a shame cus the motherboard i got dosent have a dvi out. I probably should of thought of that :crazy:

So would a graphics card with a dvi or hdmi out be a better option?

Sorted :thumbup: poped into pc world and got me self a graphics card with a hdmi out

and all seems good. so good that i can actualy use my own pc now!!

only a slight niggle im trying to work out is the screen size is slightly too big so it cuts part of it off. hopefully ill work that one out notsure.gif

I had the same thing on my PS3 running Ubuntu, it was over scanning, so I had to manually chop the resolution down:

Dunno what you'll be able to do on Windows though.

I dont think it'l work as ive got windows 7. thanks anyway tho matt ill do a search in google and see what comes of it notsure.gif

Just had a quick look, and it depends on what TV you are using. You can sometimes tell the TV that the HDMI port is being used for a PC, and that will fix the overscan issue.

Na i tried mucking about with the tv settings but it still wouldnt let me change it.

Ill have to live with it for now.

basically changing the resolution fixes it

i know from previous experience u end up with a low res setting to get a 100% fit, the higher the res the more of the screen u lose

downfall from this is oversized icons and pixelation

I did this just the other day on my pc upstairs, it's running through my 32" Samsung Lcd. I have a lead coming from the pc to the HDMI port on my tv. I just need to sort out the sound so it comes through on the tv

Na tried it mike id have to go to 20x20 for it to fit and like you say too much pixelation.

Its not that bad it just cuts the date in half on the bottom right corner!

Dose your screen fit ok?

I used a 3mm jack to 2 rca adaptor then rca to tv works a treet :thumbup:

It's perfect. I watch the pc through the HDMI channel on the tv. I just have no sound for now, my sound is coming from the pc speakers but I want it to come from the tv.

yea thats exactly what im doing just it dosent fit right on the screen. It works well tho 😃
