for a while now my vectra b has taken forever to warm up, and now that its colder it rarely even gets out of the blue on the temp guage. i suspect that the thermostat is stuck open, and decided its about time to sort it out.
looking at the car, the thermostat housing looks like theres 2 x 10mm bolts to un-do, and then the housing looks like it opens up to reveal the thermostat (i havent actually tried it though).
so, i gave vauxhall a ring to get a price, and they said it only shows on their system as coming as part of the thermostat housing and that you cant get the thermostat seperate... therefore they quoted me a price of just over £100 for the thermostat and housing.
i cant see any reason why the thermostat cannot be bought seperately to the housing. - does anyone have any experience of this?
i've told him i'll leave it for now, as im not sure whether to keep the car or not (still have issues with burning oil) and cannoy justify spending another £100 on a car i dont intend to keep.
