This morning I decided to fit my new Alpine KTP-445 mini amp that I had for Christmas from my Dad. I've been after one of these for ages but the availability was a problem and so was the price. I enquired with my local Uplands audio dealer and spoke to Nick Bush (also VVOC member) and he looked into getting one for me recently. After a week of enquiries, he got back to me telling me that Alpine were all out of stock and that there were no plans to get anymore out until end of Jan 2010!! The price would also be £120!
I decided to give ebay a try and there was nothing in this country. I expanded my search to worldwide and found one in Canada. The price was £84.99 delivered within 5 days!! So I bought it with my Dads money and it arrived as they said with full UPS tracking.
Anyway, today it went in and i'm very happy with it. Its just a Plug & Play item too so no buggering about with extra amp wiring. You remove the headunit, remove the plug from the rear of the unit and then put the mini amp in-line. Find a suitable place for the amp behind the glove box and you're away.
Here's some pics.....
Main power plug removed
Socket for main power plug
Main power plug and in-line amp socket joined
Other end of amp plug now plugged into the socket at the rear of the headunit
Amp secured to the bulkhead behind the glove box
