Newbie... Very low MPG, Driving like a nun.

Only been getting around 26/27mpg... its only on motorway driving with long runs it goes any higher...

Its few miles to work down a a dual carriageway i cruise down, and even around town i very rarely go over 1500/2000 rpm...

Have cleaned the throttle body which was a discrace, is there any thing else i can do... had last full service at vaux in Jan, next half service due this jan... cars Vectra C Sri...

you go a few miles to work, it takes 10-15 mins to warm the car up esp in this v cold weather, so your warming it up then turning it off, you will get better mpg with a warm engine, are you going round town with a cold engine ? gear changing non stop with a cold engine defo no good for fuel or your engine. you get better mpg on motorway cuz ur warmed up and crusing on the throttle not blasting through the rev range i get 30mpg on work run 40mpg at 70 on motorway and 50mpg at 55mph

Hi mate, welcome to the site. I'm getting the same from mine at the moment and thats the commute trip from Bramley to Leeds and back every day. You bought it just at the wrong time, in the warmer months you should see your MPG go up to about 30mpg and more on the motorway.

Hopefully its just the weather then, on paper when i was looking for which to get it suggested 33 or so for the 2.2 iirc... will see what its like in spring before start stripping anything else 😃
