How was this decade for you?

So the average UK (male) life expectancy is 76-77, depending on what you read, so 2000-2009 equates to typically 12-13% of your lifespan.

So how much has your life changed in the last decade?

For me, I was 16 at the time of the millennium, and was in my last year of school.

Finished school with fairly good grades, went onto college, and never got into University.

Passed my driving test at 17.

Went straight into work at 18, and I've only had 2 jobs as an adult, and I'm doing a job I really enjoy, with good money and still loads of prospects. Wage has gone from £11k when I was 18 to £45k + at 26.

I'm in my second house, got married at 23, and finally bought a proper car 😃

Still no plans for kids any time soon.

So, that's my last 10 years pretty much summed up........what about you?

Spent it all in the Forces, been to some great and not so great places.
Got Married and had my little monster.
Been through about 4 Vauxhalls and ended up with 2 Kia's
Been a pretty good one spoiled buy the last few months of disasters.

i just leaft primary school and, finished secondary school with crap grades and getting kicked out a few time opps.
as i left school i got a job a few weeks later at mercedes-benz been doing my apprentiship which i have just finished will all paper work 😃
passed driving at 17 and on my 3rd vauxhall.

I left school at 16 with no gcse grades over an E!

Luckily i got a job just after that at the place im still working now after 8 years.

I did an apprentiship and got NVQ2's and 3's in product engineering,fabrication and welding and body repair.

I gained experience in nearly every trade working where i am and ive gone from an obnoxious little twat who was scared of his own shadow to a skilled twat that can turn his hand to anything!

I met my gf 6 years ago, Not planning on getting married any time soon.

Still living at home whilst saving for a deposit for a house(the sooner i get out the better!)

Its funny how after you leave school the years just fly by.

Massive change in myself over the last 9 years but still left wondering wtf have i done over that amount of time.

F**k i need to get a life!! :lol:

New job in started in February 2000. Started as a CNC Miller.

Mum died in September 2001.

Lauren born in May 2003.

I was accused of sexual harassment at work in June 2003. Suspended for 2 days then returned to work with an unblemished record. I was falsely accused and the female was dealt with. She no longer works at my place of emloyment.

Promoted to 5-Axis Team Leader in November 2003.

Jack born December 2005.

1st visit to Courtenay Sport for CS4 pack January 2006.

2nd visit September 2006 for Schrick cams to complete CS5.

3rd visit February 2007 lightened flywheel and uprated clutch.

Sent away to Liverpool for new CAD/CAM verification training.

Milltek finally arrived Oct 2007.

October 2007 launch of the new Future Lynx Helicopter program at my company and the main production going through the 5-Axis machining facility.

4th visit to Courtenay December 10th for 2.4 inlet manifold & 2.4 TB developement program. Bilstein & Eibach + Whiteline ARB

April 2008, meteoric pay rise and a discreet phone call to Courtenay to fit SC. May 9th, collect the car after months of winter storage! lol!

New Faro Inspection arm for work including training and now a certified Inspection stamp holder.

December 2008 brought too much pressure resulting in another period of depression. Signed off until Jan 2009. Back with a vengance!!

March 2009, full polybush kit fitted at Courtenay.

2009 Training seminar at Williams F1 centre in Oxfordshire.

Started in 2000 earning just over 17k. This year I topped out at 50k.

Things to do for 2010.........become emotionally stronger and stop worrying about what other people think of me just because i've actually done something useful and got on well at work!

my decade has been very uncomfortable and painful at times, very challenging !

parents split up in 99, moved into a dump in inner Birmingham, only grandparent I was close to died months after parents divorce

went to amsterdam for my 21st on new years eve that year, experienced my first encounter with mental illness, more drug induced imo

came off drugs summer of 2000 after about 4 years of being in a drug induced reality, met my girlfriend shortly after and been with her ever since

Sept 2002 went back to education at age of 23 and got my HND in computing
September 2004 went to university to do a bridging degree and ended up with 68.8% [2] in BSc [Hons] computer networks in summer of 05
Happiest 3 years of decade in full time work whilst still battling personal problems
January 2009 made redundant but had a new goal in life losing weight and trying to get fit
May 2009 Lost 24 pounds in 5 months and felt good going on holiday
June 2009 started up http://www.mps-computers.co.uk
present still looking for work but still living a comfortable life making money from the above company

this decade has been a busy one ive had my 21st and 30th birthdays
my 2 daughters sophie and lucy
my first house
got my brewery job in 2001 and am still in brewing and fermentation departments
passed driving test in 2001 after having piaggio scooter for 2 years and got a vauxhall nova saloon with 135000 on the clock
then got an mg zr then got my coupe which ive had 2 years
lost a few good people my grandad, my mrs grandma and nana my mate coxy who was only 26
but tons of new arrivals in the family that with my 2 adds up to 8
its gone so fast since millenium night which i remember like it was yesterday
travelled to some mint places florida,tenerife,majorca,munich,galway,zante,amsterdam,skiathos, to name a few
just finished project house which consisted of a full decoration throughout the inside and have just had the roof retiled and re guttered and faciated and have started painting the timber outside now its amazing how much comfier it is with a few changes
its bizzare how much can change in your life over a year let alone a decade heres to the next one :thumbup:

Its been pretty good, but fairly messy towards the end for me.

Finished middle school and moved onto high school right at the start.
Got my GCSE's in 2006 and moved onto college.
During my GCSE's and A levels i had alot of sports related injuries broke my right foot, cracked a couple ribs, snapped my left wrist, and finally smashed my collar bone into 4 pieces which hurt a fair bit.
At the end on my AS level parents started having problems with each other. Which led me to fail pretty much all of my AS levels...
End of 2008 dad finally moved out, and finished my A-levels after resitting all of my as and a2 exams in my final summer.
Didnt hold out much hope about getting into uni at all, but applied anyway. Had my worst summer and ended up losing about 1 and a half stone (being a skinny **** it wasnt what i needed)

Had one very sleepless night then the next morning went to pick up my A level results ended up getting a C in engineering, D in maths and a U in physics. Then went back home (not to the pub as i needed at least CCD to get into uni so wasnt a good time) looked on the computer and found i had a place on a mechanical engineering degree at Staffordshire uni! Can not put into words how happy i was. So went out and got very drunk to celebrate.

Started uni and got alot of confidence back and started feeling better about the whole parents situation. Finished my 1st year with some very good grades 15,15,14,13,10,7,4,4 cant remember exactly but it was very close to that, i only remember the top 5 off my head 😉 Got my 1st job over the summer and absolutely loved it. Which led onto my 2nd year at uni which is also going well. Got my own flat. Playing for the university basketball team, and going to the gym lots 🙂 Currently at home after another crap xmas having to travel between families and a big divorce argument which im being dragged through but alls good... Have had my girlfriend for just short of 2 years now, no plans for ANYTHING in that department though!

Forgot the car stuff! Passed my test not long after my 17th bday with 3 minors ran around in a polo for 2 years. Changed to my vec this summer whilst working.

Think thats about it for me! Bring on 2010 8)

Met my now wife in 2001

Finished university 2003 with a 2:1 in how to use a calculator.

Got a job rented a house got a promotion, moved house so changed jobs (as moved countries (England to Wales))

Got engaged, moved jobs got made redundant, found another better job got married.

Bought a house at some point in 2005. Qualified as an Accountant 6 months a go.

Suddenly my life sounds very dull ........................ :lol:

I have definitely matured.

Started Uni and also did 14 Months working for a large American computer company.

Met my now wife

Completed Uni

Got a Job and made it to Network Manger in 18months

Had some great holidays in the UK and States and Europe.

Got another Job as a Senior Engineer.

Bought a house

Bought a brand new Corsa C which i modded then px'd it 2 years later for the Astra and got peanuts for it.

Got Married, then we had our first baby may 2009.

Thats about it really. Quick summary i know 😃
