One off ignition problem?

Hi,

I had a slight problem with my ignition today, basicly it wouldn't undo the steering lock, and after 10 tries whist wobbling the steering wheel, let me unlock it.
I had this same problem ONCE on my old Veccy during my 8 years of ownership, and hope this is just a one off problem, it's not a comon veccy fault is it?
I've still got a spare hanging around, but can't be bothered to swap it over if it's unlikely to do it again, but I don't want to get stuck somewhere either!
It's been fine since.

u mean the ignition barrel is jammed ?

Was, kind of I guess. It wouldn't let the key turn, steering lock stuck on and key jambed up...
It 'clicked' after a minute or so of trying to free it, then and worked as normal.

temporary fix is put your key in the ignition then get a hammer or something similiar and lightly tap the end

eventually it will free up

what is causing it is the little pins on the barrel jamming up [the little pins for steering lock]

u need to take cowling off and look down the ignition barrel you will see a tiny hole to release the barrel from its housing, i think your ignition needs to be in the on position to release the barrel

Okay thanks Mike. I guess this isn't a comon problem, so I'll cross my fingers and hope it doesn't happen again.
