how and where to fit a boost gauge guys?

hi guys 🙂 as abowe , where do You have to connect the boost gauge? is it conected with FPR pipe going from inlet manifold? dunno..
some pisc would be nice to see 🙂 thank's for help :thumbup:

Use a take off from the vacuum pipe from the top of the inlet. You'll probably have a few pipes all together around that area close to the actuator.

My gauge is mounted at the bottom of the A-pillar in a gauge pod. I'll try and remember to take some pics of the vacuum pipes tomorrow after work so you can see how mine is plumbed in.

You want to read manifold pressure, so that should be plumbed in with a T-piece into the thin tube from the mani (between inj. 2 and 3) to the FPR...

so Johnny,the line from inlet manifold is connected with main feed,actuator and then with fpr then to gauge? 🙂

hmm it works like that johnny? that feed is pre-supercharger, so all it will have is vacuum to atmosphere at best.. to get a boost reading, should be connected to the really small takeoff right on top of the manifold between cyl 2+3

I looked again tonight and it would appear that there is a take off from the very small pipe as you've mentioned. This is exactly as it left Courtenay so you can safely say that its done correctly.

now I'm totally lost :wtf: mine pipe betwen 2-3 injector is bit bigger than Johny's,like pipe conected to FPR
so can I go like rik1083 says - from manifold thru fpr(using T-conector and then to gauge?
coz like Johny has it's bit complicate for me guys I'd say 🙂 ehh

jonny's seems weird to me, maybe because he has the early type sc conversion :dunno:
on mine, the actuator takeoff feeds only the actuator.
Any boost reading (e.g. map, fpr, guage) should be taken from the little one between 2+3

Who's engine is plumbed like this??? That's a very weird set-up an not how a normal SC conversion (the ecu reflash type) should look. Does it run proper like this??

Edit: just saw the other pic and the actuator is probably proper connected to only the manifold pipe and not to any of these actuator tubes. Where do you need all that for?

Bypass actuator (upper connection) is plumbed directly to the supercharger (behind TB)
Lower actuator connection is open
Manifold pipe (small, between 2 and 3) is connected to FPR. Any boost readout should be taken from this tube

I posted the wrong picture at the start of this thread and now i've removed it! :thumbup:

I have an SC conversion that was the last of the old decompressed type with boost management. My boost gauge IS taken off of the outlet between cylinders 2 & 3!

All the pipework around the actuator is exactly the way it left Courtenay. They plumbed it and that's how its been since it left them 18 months ago.

I'm almost there,doing wires now,ECU relocated and everything tided,just few things with connections to be done :thumbup:
how the car will response with standard ECU map in it? before I'll go to Courtenay for remap and rolling road there will be feew weeks :think: I'll probably visit them in January as Xmas are comming 😃 cheers cheers..

I'd imagine that you'd have to drive steady until the map is completed. Are you going to be running standard injectors until you get it to Courtenay?

You do know there's something like a 6-8 week waiting list to get onto the Courtenay rolling road for a mapping session, don't you? Not sure I'd want to be driving around keeping it off boost for that long. :?

no Johnny,I have those bigger injectors from lads from Courtenay,but Idont have a joice,coz I'm gona have other car only till wednesday 🙁

no mate,I have no a clue about it dunno.. i'm gona send an email to lads and ask,coz its not that easy for me to go whenever they will want 🙁 eh
I was thinking,are they only able to do that remap for SC conversion guys? :think:
I now they did it not once and not twice,but is that should be the main reason to go to boys from Courtenay?
I was thinking maybe somebody here in Ireland would be able to do it dunno..

They have customers traveling from Norway to have there cars setup at Courtenay.
