Hello fellow Vectra sufferers!
Just picked up a 2001 SRI 150; didn't pay much for it, it's had all the expensive mods done re timing chain and tensioners, but!
emulsification has appeared on oil filler cap, and dreaded chocolate milk on dipstick. It uses about a pint of water every 80 miles or so. Still drives well, and engine doesn't overheat.
Obvious diagnosis is head-gasket failure, but could it be anything else? Car was standing for approx 5 months before I picked it up.
If it is head gasket, I don't have the skills or the workshop or the tools to do it myself, so what could I expect to pay at an independent?
Is there anything else about these engines that I should know?
Many thanks in advance for any replies and help.
Cheers - Ian
