cooling fan :( plz help

i have just turned my car on and the light is on the dashboard a little box with a star in i have found out this is my cooling fan... after turing my car on the fan is on alllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time even when i turn the car off... 24/7 ...

could this be my coolant temp sensor and if so where do i find it...

also could this be any other problem

any help would be a massive favour

The coolant temp sensor is located at the back of the engine. You can't miss is. Its a sensor going into the back of the head with a plug on it.

so its no where near the radiator??? just thort that if it was the fan it would be somewhere round there....

No, back of the head, by the manifold.

with the astra 2.2's it seems more than just the coolant temp sensor as linked above

there is an electronic control module for the cooling / fan 🙁

I agree with Mike, probably the cooling fan ecu is faulty / poor connections

I have changed the sensor and and the control module and WHEY HEY!!! Working... i think haha soon see when i overheat

hi guys iv changed the coolant moduel, thermo stat and temp gauge and yet the cooling light is still on any ideas fellas.

need to clear faults down really and see what appears

with opcom you can check voltages and test the module

so i would start by either clearing codes down with reader or unplug battery for 45 mins

iv got no codes on so will take the battery off and try that

there is codes there just your reader is unable to read codes from that module

all sorted guys without plugging the car in found a broken wire from temp gauge to coolant module so all good 🙂
