vx220 parts into astra?

hi guys, i was just cruisin around the thorney motorsport site last night, noticed they dont really have many direct parts for the 2.2 sri, is it possible to fit the pipercross induction kit they have for the vx220 N/A? i no its not the same engine bay and all that jazz, but in general, should it be ok?

if your talking about the viper, then yes they are ideal(ran one on mine for years)
getting decent hose is difficult tho as when its positioned the feed to the intake doubles back on itself.
also works nice with a diblas flowmaster inlet if you can lay your hands on one. :thumbup:

is the viper induction kit worth the money tho, induction kits in general dont really seem to be gettin much praise on this forum, would i be better just derestricting and getting a sports panel filter, or was ur pipercross viper just the business?

yeah it does rock! (when i have a working engine, its now fitted to my new one but waiting for pennys to megasquirt it)

the viper is an exception, as it is a sealed unit and can use the cold air feed already there (i was offered a flowmaster on here).
also it breaths through a lot less foam membrane than any other filter ive seen.

we tend to frown upon 'cone' type as they just breath hot trapped air, not nice lungfulls of cold :thumbup:

Got a modded air box ATM, Ran a piper x open cone designed for the astra 2.2 have a look in the inlet section. I think green filter also have one for the g 2.2, piper x open is pritty good as it comes with all the alloy pipe.

Car sounded great but bogged down power in the summer / in heavy traffic, i would have kept it but needed to free up a bit of cash so sold it.

You can create your own pipe as a few members on here have done or of you wait a bit a as good member on here who is handy (BURT) may be working on a custom idea for the Astra he is currently got items for the Vec.

Dont think there has been a TB'd Astra yet.

if you want tuning parts then use www.allecotec.com, far cheaper :thumbup:

the throttle bodies should fit the astra, but not so sure about the filter, you might have to use some motorbike single air filters over each trumpet

Would you be looking to a tuning company to carry out the work or do it yourself? You mention Thorney above. I approached them about their Schrick cam tuning package before I spoke to Courtenay a few years back. Thorney were very expensive as they had never carried out the work on anything other than a vx220 before so I prompted for Courtenay to do the work at £1k less.

Thorney have all the knowledge of the T/B conversions from what i've read.

im more just wondering what to do with my car, really just lookin about right now, cars of the road atm, completely standard, planning just doin the pre cat and derestricing the airbox since thats free wen i get it back, but from there on is ne1s guess. dont no wot road to go down and how much itl set me back, having to get a new engine fitted as it is, sets me back in my plans for the motor by a wee bit , :thumbdown: haha

Dont you get hit by the import tax when they deliver to UK ?
I bought a Paintball gun and load of bits then had to pay the import
duty when it was delivered :shock:
Plus the postage

Or do you know something we dont ? 😃

yes you do have to pay the import duties, but they still work out half the price of most euro stuff :wtf:

i spoke to TMS the other day about the TB for the astra and they said they have never been done and they aint sure with the fitting as the astra has more on it.

maybe i shouldnt go for it, im a bitty appregensive about bein the first of sumthing, for me it never pays off, lol, might just stick to the airbox mod, the precat, and a couple of other cheapish mods that are highly recommended by urselves cheers..
